The palm-sized adventurer

This morning we're home from church due to a sickness bug that the children have had. It's been most unpleasant with only one escaping being sick. I'm quite pragmatic in these situations - a bowl and some kitchen roll handy and a change of clothes when necessary. They are just about keeping things down this morning, so we might well be over the worst.

In other news, the hamster, Pickle, disappeared earlier in the week. Someone left the cage open and our intrepid furry friend took advantage. I was quite worried, and we spent one night straining to hear the sound of scritching and scratching, with no joy. Then Ant saw him scurrying into the fireplace.

Now, we don't have a proper fire - we have a fan heater with some fake coal above it. It's proper rubbish, but it's all we have for now. Behind the 'fire' is cavity wall, and our little adventurer was hiding in there. Ant stayed up to 2am tempting Pickle out with a bowl of goodies, and managed to catch him.

So there he is, back in the cage, happily munching on some carrot. It's more than the kids have been managing.

There is sickness on this side of the sea as well, and between that and Spring Break, the pews had quite a few empty spaces. Hope your little ones are better soon and no one else in the house catches the bug.

Pickle is a great name. We had a kitten named Froggy. She was a bit of a beast, but she looked adorable and I liked her unconventional name.

Glad you caught the little rodent (ours was named "Chicken"... long story), and hope your littles feel better soon. It's no fun when there's sickness in the house.

We had a similar adventure with one of our pet rats. Yes I said rats lol.. Turvy the rat (named because she was always hanging upside down in the cage) escaped and hid in the cavity wall for 3 days.

Hope the sicness bug goes quickly.
